Annual Benefits Open Enrollment Period

As a UC San Diego employee, you may select benefits during Open Enrollment. This is your annual opportunity to choose the best health plan option to meet your needs.

Open Enrollment began today and ends on Tuesday, November 21 at 5 pm Pacific Time. To help you make informed decisions, the following resources are available:

UCnet offers information and tools to help you decide which plan is best for you. It also includes details about UC Care, a PPO with a broad network of providers, and Health Net Blue & Gold, a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) with a custom network of providers created exclusively for the University of California.

UC San Diego Health primary care faculty physicians provide a full range of services for children, families, adults and seniors. The same excellent clinical care available to our patients is available to you. OPEN ENROLLMENT FAIR
Representatives from the various health insurance plans will be providing medical plan presentations for faculty, staff and retirees. Benefit plan carriers and benefits staff will be available to answer questions, provide additional information if needed, and discuss plan details. Employees and retirees are welcome will have an opportunity to attend a Benefits Open Enrollment Fair located at either the La Jolla campus or and the Hillcrest Medical Center.

2018 HIGHLIGHTS
This year, there are changes to the Anthem Blue Cross (UC PPO Plans) pharmacy benefits and the UC Health Savings Plan individual and family contribution limits will be increased. For more information about changes, go to: http://bit.ly/OE18Changes

During Open Enrollment, you can also enroll your eligible dependents, including children, up to age 26 in your plans. Additionally, the ARAG legal plan will be open for enrollment.

Open Enrollment is also the time to enroll or re-enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) which allow you to set aside funds to pay for health and/or dependent care while providing tax savings. You must enroll in FSAs during Open Enrollment to participate in 2018, even if you are currently enrolled. For information about the Flexible Spending Accounts, go to: http://bit.ly/FlexSpending2018

All Anthem Blue Cross members will be issued a new medical ID card for 2018. Only new Kaiser members and new Health Net members will receive ID cards for 2018. You should have the ID card by January 1, 2018. If you do not receive your new ID card, please call the medical plan.

Be sure to make your selections by November 21 at 5 pm Pacific Time. All enrollment changes will take effect on January 1, 2018.
