CONSTRUCTION ALERT UPDATE– Central Utility Plant Driveway Addition (Extension Alert)

Project Location/Description:

The Construction Alert for the Central Utility Plant equipment yard on Scholars Drive South will be extended through December 22, 2017 due to unforeseen and undocumented utilities which will need to be rerouted.

Currently, there is only one driveway access to CUP. Large work trucks have limited space to maneuver their vehicles, often impacting street traffic on York Lane. The driveway project will provide a separate exit on Scholars Drive South which will improve the flow of traffic and relieve congestion in the yard.

Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:

Scholars Drive South will remain open to through traffic during the construction of the second driveway. Vehicles should expect intermittent delays when the existing curb is being removed and work trucks and equipment are present and when the new driveway is constructed. Flaggers will be present during this time to direct vehicular traffic.

Pedestrians should use the existing sidewalk on the opposite side of the street through the duration of construction. Bicycle lanes might be intermittently closed during this duration and cyclists should follow posted signage. The shuttle stop at the corner of Scholars Drive and York Lane will also be closed.

At the completion of the project, work trucks and emergency vehicles will enter from the York Lane main entrance and exit on Scholars Drive South.
