ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO
The campus recently updated the policy on major events on campus (510-1.5a – Policy on Major Events on Campus). The campus community is invited to submit comments on the updated policy. The policy may be accessed at the following website: http://adminr ecords.ucsd.edu/ppm/docs/510-1.5a.HTML The purpose of the policy on major events is to balance UC San Diego’s commitment to ensuring that all persons may exercise the constitutionally protected right of free expression with UC San Diego’s strong interest in ensuring that events on campus do not disrupt university functions or activities, pose unreasonable danger to people or property, or conflict with other events. The policy aims to lay out clear and understandable rules for when access to designated facilities will and will not be allowed. Through this policy, UC San Diego seeks to ensure an on-going opportunity for the expression of a variety of viewpoints.
