ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF, AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO (Including UC San Diego Health)

SUBJECT:    New Mailing Center Opening January 3, 2018

On January 3, 2018, Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS) Mail Services will open a new Mailing Center within their central campus distribution complex located at the Campus Services Complex (CSC), Bldg. A on Greenhouse Lane.

This full-service Mailing Center will share space and resources with other Mail Services operations, including the Passports Office, which is open to the entire San Diego community. CSC is located steps from Campus Shuttle Stops 298 and 290 at the corner of Voigt and Gilman; both streets have dedicated bike lanes and pedestrian sidewalks.

Other benefits to the new Mailing Center include:
- 24-hour P.O. Box access
- No wait drop-off bins for prepaid packages
- Discounted FedEx and UPS shipping rates
- Free 20 minute parking near the entrance
- Extended business hours

The decision to open the Mailing Center follows a year of careful analysis on the future viability of the Postal Center located in the Price Center. Due to the changing nature of physical mail over the last several years, the volume at the Postal Center has decreased dramatically, which has impacted Mail Services' ability to support the operation at its current location. Opening the Mailing Center at CSC will allow Mail Services to more effectively leverage staff and resources who are supporting other aspects of mail, while providing enhanced services.

The Postal Center will vacate the Price Center on December 20. Mail Services has arranged to transfer Postal Center P.O. Boxes to the new Mailing Center prior to the official January 3 opening to minimize interruption in service. Existing mailbox customers will have 24-hour access to their mail at the new location beginning December 20. IPPS will continue exploring other ways to support pre-paid package drop-off and pick-up at convenient locations across campus.

If you have any immediate questions or concerns please contact IPPS Mail Services at 858-822-0669 or submit an ASK (login required) case.

On behalf of IPPS Mail Services, we look forward to better serving your postal needs in the New Year.
