ALL ACADEMIC SENATE MEMBERS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Dependent Care Travel Grant Program for Senate Faculty - Now Accepting Applications

We are pleased to announce that the Dependent Care Travel Grant (DCTG) program is now accepting applications for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Through the DCTG program, the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs provides $125,000 annually to assist Senate Faculty of all ranks who incur dependent-care expenses traveling to perform research, or to attend a conference or professional meeting in a distant location. Eligible faculty may receive up to one dependent-care travel grant per fiscal year, not exceeding $2,500, subject to the availability of funding.

Due to the program's mid-year launch, applications for travel completed during Fall 2016 and Winter 2017 will be accepted retroactively. Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received; early application is encouraged. Detailed guidelines and application materials are available here:

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Academic Senate, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and the Academic Senate-Administration Joint Task Force on Family Accommodations for their efforts in expanding UC San Diego’s support of faculty who care for children, elder family members, and family members with serious illness. Through their contributions and those of the many campus stakeholders who have shared their insights about family accommodation issues, UC San Diego has become a leader in providing faculty with competitive and flexible family accommodations.

If you have any questions concerning the DCTG program, please contact Heather Fowler Zion, Academic Family Programs Liaison, at (858) 534-0500 or hzion@ucsd.edu.
