OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR – EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION February 2, 2017
Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in UC San Diego's Black History Month celebration throughout February. The important observance and celebration of diversity will feature film screenings, lectures and concerts to commemorate the history, contributions and achievements of African Americans in U.S. history. This year’s theme is “The Crisis in Black Education UC San Diego: Improving the Pipeline to Academic Success." For a complete list of events, please visit: http://blackhistorymonth.ucsd.edu. All events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. In recognition of this annual event, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved for employees to attend a UC San Diego Black History Month activity. Supervisors, upon request, may approve the use of such leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care. On behalf of the campus community, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the members of the UC San Diego Black History Month Planning Committee for their work on this celebration.
