SUBJECT:    Appointment – Jennifer Ford as Director Conflict of Interest

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer J. Ford, M.B.A., as the new Director of the Conflict of Interest Office in the Office of Research Affairs.

Jennifer comes to us with more than 16 years of experience at UC San Diego, most recently at the Office of Clinical Trials Administration (OCTA), where she served as director. In that role, she designed a state-of-the-art clinical-research platform called the OCTA Dashboard, which provides real-time data based on type of activity and the in-process status of those activities. Other responsibilities included educating for-profit entities, collaborating universities, and campus offices about the differences between sponsor-initiated clinical trials and investigator-initiated clinical trials, while improving processes within the units she directed.

For the Conflict of Interest Office, Jennifer will ensure campus compliance with UC policy, state law and federal regulations pertaining to conflict of interest. She will also provide expertise in policy and regulation interpretation to faculty, administrators and other staff as well as support the faculty conflict of interest committees. We are fortunate to have her on our team, and ask you to join us in welcoming her to the Office of Research Affairs.
