February 9, 2017
I invite all faculty, staff and students to join our newly admitted students and their families at the 21st annual Triton 5K and Festival Sunday, April 9, at 9 a.m. This annual campus event, which follows Triton Day, supports student scholarships to ensure that learning is accessible and affordable for all. Your participation contributes to the Campaign For UC San Diego. Participants may run or walk the 3.1 mile scenic course through the heart of the UC San Diego campus. The Triton 5K is sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF) and open to the UC San Diego community and the public. You are encouraged to register as an individual or create a team of five or more. Prizes will be awarded, including recognition of the largest campus department-led team. Special registration discounts are available for active military and veterans. All participants will receive a Triton 5K t-shirt. The Triton 5K Festival will feature entertainment, a Junior Triton Run, a play zone and hands-on activities for children of all ages. Campus departments and student organizations are invited to host a booth at the Festival. Call (858) 534-3900 with requests for alternative accessibility arrangements or accommodations. Established in 1996 as the Chancellor’s Challenge 5K Run/Walk for Scholars, the annual event has raised more than $3.6 million in scholarships, benefiting more than 1,000 motivated and talented students. Help us support the next 1,000. Here’s how you can get involved:
