Subject:    Expansion of Electric Vehicle Lease and Sale Offers

UC San Diego has expanded its collaboration with electric vehicle manufacturers to offer affordable leasing and sales opportunities on an ongoing basis, along with more accessible charging infrastructure on campus. This is in support of California’s and UC’s carbon neutrality initiatives and vital UC San Diego research to accomplish these goals.

Before making a new car decision, students, faculty, staff and retirees are encouraged to consider various offers available through UC San Diego’s EV lease and sale program—recently recognized with a 2017 Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Best Practice Award.

Current offers include:
• Lease a 2017 BMW i3 for $199/month for 30 months
• $10,000 cash rebate on the purchase of 2017 Nissan Leaf
• Lease a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi SE for $209/month for 36 months

Local dealerships will also be providing Ride-and-Drive opportunities of these EV models on Monday, April 24 at two times and locations:
• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Square on the main campus.
• 4 to 6 p.m. at Parking Lot P001 at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

For details on these EV lease and sale opportunities and other exclusive offers, please visit
http://sustain.ucsd.edu/involve/offers.html.

All offers include HOV access plus an additional $2,500 California rebate to eligible participants. Participating dealers can also discuss their limited free charging programs and utilization of the $7,500 federal tax credits. UC San Diego students, faculty and staff must show a valid university ID at participating dealers to take advantage of these offers.

Anyone who leases or purchases one of these vehicles will also be invited to participate in a national electric vehicle user study being conducted by UC San Diego and its research partners. This is an opt-in study and there is no obligation to participate.

With 66 public charging stations currently on campus and an agreement in place to increase that number to over 150 within the next 18 months, there has never been a better time to consider leasing or buying an electric vehicle. For more information on charging stations at UC San Diego, visit http://transportation.ucsd.edu/parking/ev-stations.html.

Thank you for your interest in supporting ongoing research and the campus’ sustainability initiatives.
