FACILITIES DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION June 28, 2017
ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO
Project Location/Description: The Outpatient Pavilion Drop-off Project is scheduled to start construction at 5:00 p.m. on July 28, 2017 with an expected completion date of October 28, 2017. The new OPP vehicular drop-off project will improve the flow of traffic at the Medical Center entrance and add aesthetic and functional pedestrian pathways between buildings and improve the existing Thornton Loop Island. Patient parking lot P751, which is located at the center of the Medical Center campus between Thornton, Perlman, Moores Cancer Center, and the Shiley Eye Institute, will remain closed during construction. Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts: Parking lot P751 will be fenced and closed for the duration of construction. Street traffic will be directed to alternate parking lots at the Athena Parking Structure or the Campus Point Parking Structure. Bicyclists should proceed with caution through the impacted area. Valet service will be provided at the entrances of Thornton Hospital and Moores Cancer Center to accommodate patients and visitors. Flaggers will be present to direct work trucks accessing the area. Please expect short, intermittent delays when driving in this area. Patient, staff, visitor, and emergency vehicle access will remain available at all times. Pedestrians will be directed by signage through the newly constructed segment of Health Sciences Walk between the new Outpatient Pavilion and the project site.
