Call for Nominations and Applications – University Librarian

A national search for a new University Librarian (UL) has now commenced, and I am pleased to invite nominations and applications for the position. We have enlisted the services of the Park Square Executive Search firm to assist us with the search process, and Professor Seth Lerer (Literature) has agreed to chair the Search Advisory Committee (committee membership listed below).

As a senior academic officer, the University Librarian reports directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor-Academic Affairs, is a member of the Academic Senate, and works closely with the campus administration, the faculty, and colleagues throughout the University of California in planning and implementing the goals of the University Library. The UL serves UC San Diego’s faculty, students, staff and greater community by meeting their information needs in support of research, teaching, learning and patient care. The new UL will be appointed to serve at 100% time for a five-year term, renewable following appropriate review.
