ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD
Project Description/Location: Construction for the new Satellite Utilities Plant will impact traffic on Scholars Drive South, Osler Lane and Pharmacy Lane September 5 through October 27, 2017, while specific work is being done. Hours of construction will be Monday through Friday between 6:30 am and 4:30 pm. Work will include pulling medium voltage cables and performing splices inside existing manholes between the recently constructed Revelle Switch Station and Satellite Utilities Plant. The new Satellite Utilities Plant, located in the existing parking lot P604 next to Central Research Services Facility, will provide approximately 7,000 new gross square feet to house emergency power generators and switchgear. The facility will provide emergency power to the Skaggs Pharmaceutical Sciences Building, Biomedical Research Facility II, and Central Research Services Facility after completion, to ensure more reliable power service to these facilities in the School of Medicine. Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Impacts: There will be Intermittent traffic delays on Scholars Drive South, Osler Lane, and Pharmacy Lane. Traffic will be controlled by flag persons when one lane is closed. The bicycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks will also be impacted by this closure. Please follow signage and allow extra time while traveling on Scholars Drive South, Osler Lane, and Pharmacy Lane.
