CAPITAL PROGRAM MANAGEMENT September 8, 2017
ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO
Project Location/Description: The Outpatient Pavilion Drop-off Project will begin construction at 5:00pm on Friday, October 6, 2017, with expected completion by January 2018. There will be a temporary closure of patient parking lot P751 during construction which is located between Thornton, Perlman, Moores Cancer Center, and the Shiley Eye Institute with alternate parking options made available to patients and visitors. The project will provide a vehicular drop-off point in front of the new Outpatient Pavilion which will improve the flow of traffic at the Medical Center entrance, add aesthetic and functional pedestrian pathways between medical buildings, improve the existing Thornton Island Loop, and will enhance the overall Patient Experience. Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts: Parking lot P751 will be closed for the duration of construction. The perimeter of the lot and the Thornton Island Loop will be enclosed by chain-link fence with screen. Wayfinding signage will direct vehicular patient traffic to alternate parking at the Athena and Campus Point Structures and will direct pedestrians through the newly constructed segment of Health Sciences Walk between the new Outpatient Pavilion and the project site. Valet parking will be available to patients and visitors in front of Thornton Hospital and Moores Cancer Center. During construction, a portion of P751 will be utilized for valet parking to mitigate parking impacts due to the construction. The Contractor will utilize a flagger to escort work trucks accessing the area. Please expect short, intermittent delays when driving in this area. Patient, staff, visitor, and emergency vehicle access will remain available at all times.
