ALL STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Hunger & Houselessness Awareness Week

Since the launch of the UC Global Food Initiative in 2015, UC San Diego has taken several strategic steps to ensure students have access to a variety of resources to meet their Basic Needs. We are advancing a set of priorities for Basic Needs security so each UC San Diego student has the opportunity to focus on their academic goals. Basic needs security refers to the most essential resources required to thrive as a human being which includes access to nutritious food, stable housing, and financial resources.

Come expand your knowledge on the intersectionality of food and housing insecurity and learn how it affects students at UC San Diego by participating in the Tritons Rock Hunger Campaign and Hunger & Houselessness Week events.

The Tritons Rock Hunger Campaign is a food drive in collaboration with the San Diego Food Bank. The campaign began November 4 and extends through November 18. Red donation bins are located in each college market, Cafe V, The Village Market, The Hub, the Sustainability Resource Center, and Birch Aquarium. There will be a competition among the six colleges and The Village to see who can receive the most donations. The winner will receive a prize provided by the Food Bank.

Hunger & Houselessness Awareness Week is taking place from November 10 - November 16. The week is filled with events to help spread awareness of Food and Housing insecurity on campus and break the stigma surrounding these topics. A few highlights for this week include:
