ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AND AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Participate in the Next Health Sciences Research Strategic Plan

Last year, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences launched a comprehensive effort to craft a new Health Sciences Research Strategic Plan that will guide our research priorities and investments over the next five years. A committee comprising faculty from across the enterprise explored questions regarding our vision for the future, areas of investment, and new initiatives that will keep UC San Diego on the forefront of discovery.

The committee identified 10 areas that span multiple disciplines – from engineering for precision medicine to the effects of climate change on human health.

Beginning March 12, 2018, we will begin soliciting input from all faculty and staff through IdeaWave, a crowdsourcing tool that helped a number of campus initiatives garner feedback. This campaign is open to all UC San Diego faculty and staff, and we encourage our collaborators from across campus to participate in this endeavor.

We hope you will join us by sharing your thoughts on the plan’s design, and welcome your insights on the future of Health Sciences research efforts. We are confident that with your help we will continue to remain a leader in academic research.
