SUBJECT: | CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Mid-Coast Light Rail Transit Project: |
Pepper Canyon Work
Project Location/Description:
Construction activities for the Mid-Coast Light Rail Transit Project are
continuing with the elevated light rail track construction, tree
removal, grading, demolition and utility work. As a part of this
continuing effort, the construction team will be expanding their work
construction fence north of Pepper Canyon. Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:
Beginning on June 18, 2018, the Light Rail Transit contractor will
extend their current construction fence line in Pepper Canyon to the
north, towards the back of the Structural and Materials Engineering
Building (SME), and as a result will close a portion of Lyman Lane
permanently between Sixth Lane and Artists Lane. Pedestrians and
bicyclists will be directed to use marked detours along the open portion
of Lyman Lane, Voigt Drive, and Matthews Lane to move between the Sixth
College Apartments and the greater campus. Access along Artists Lane,
from Russel Lane, will remain available to provide access to the Visual
Arts building. Outback Adventures is relocating to the Spanos Athletic
Facility and their existing building on Artists Lane will be demolished.
There will be an increase in construction vehicle traffic on Voigt
Drive, Lyman Lane., and Campus Point Drive. When traveling through and
around these areas, please be on alert for changing conditions. Please
reference the map link below to see the expanded fence line as well as
bicycle and pedestrian detour routes.
Additional Working Hours Information
During the summer session, which begins on June 18, 2018 and continues
through the start of fall quarter, the contractor has been granted
permission to begin work at 7:00 a.m., including weekends. During this
time, expect an increased number of construction vehicles and equipment
on Voigt Dr., Lyman Ln., and Campus Point Dr., which may create minor
delays. However, when the 2018 fall quarter begins, the Light Rail
Transit contractor will be restricted to working 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
