ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Law Enforcement Training Activities on Campus

The annual Law Enforcement Explorer Academy — a week long, live-in
academy for youth — is being held on campus August 6-10, 2018. Two
scheduled training events may affect campus community members.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Thursday August 9, the San Diego County
Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a training exercise on Marshall
Field, located directly south of Marshall College Upper Apartments.
Training may include use of a police helicopter, which will be making
announcements while flying overhead, and field exercises may involve
noise or smoke devices.

At approximately 1 p.m., Friday August 10, the San Diego Regional Law
Enforcement Explorer Academy will be holding its graduation run around
the west side of campus. The run may affect traffic on Scholars Drive
North and North Torrey Pines Road temporarily.

These training activities present no cause for concern. If you have
questions, please feel free to contact Corporal Patrick Dobbins at
pdobbins@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-3644.

Thank you for your understanding.
