CAMPUS NOTICE

OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE VICE CHANCELLOR

January 17, 2019

ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

Subject:    UC San Diego Changemaker Week

I am pleased to announce UC San Diego's inaugural Changemaker Week,
January 20-26, 2019.

Changemaker Week will showcase the outstanding changemaking work already
taking place on our campus. It will also provide interested students,
faculty, staff, and alumni the chance to explore opportunities for
creating change through social enterprise development, community
engagement, social justice, and service learning.

The week kicks off on January 20, 2019 with UC San Diego's annual Martin
Luther King Jr. Day of Service (https://mlkday.ucsd.edu/?p=dayofservice)
and culminates with a talk on Global Social Impact by an international
program manager from Qualcomm. I encourage you to attend these and other
events scheduled throughout the week. A complete schedule of Changemaker
Week activities is available here:
http://changemaker.ucsd.edu/events/changemaker-week/schedule.html.

UC San Diego was named a Changemaker Campus in April 2017 by Ashoka
(https://www.ashoka.org/en-US/home), the world's largest network of
social innovators, for its commitment to campus-wide excellence in
social innovation and changemaking. UC San Diego holds the distinction
as the first UC campus to receive Changemaker designation for providing
students with interdisciplinary, entrepreneurial and solutions-oriented
skills to succeed in today's complex world. Fewer than 50 universities
around the globe have earned this honor.

Please join me in celebrating UC San Diego's leadership in social
innovation and changemaking at Changemaker Week.
