CAPITAL PROGRAM MANAGEMENT October 23, 2019
Project Location/Description: The Mid-Coast Light Rail Transit Project continues with the construction of the elevated Light Rail trolley track, the LRT Voigt Station and overhead pedestrian bridge. At the same time, prep work will occur for the future Traction Power Substation that will be located in lot P701. A portion of Voigt Drive, between Campus Point Drive and the Scripps Hospital entrance, will remain fully closed October 27th, 28th, and 29th from 9:00pm until 5:00am the next morning. Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts: During construction hours, vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians will be detoured around the construction area using Campus Point Drive, Medical Center Drive, the new Gilman Bridge, and Gilman Drive. Scripps Hospital patients can use The Scripps Hospital Driveway, which will remain open during construction. Emergency vehicles will have full access to Scripps Medical Centers during construction hours. Parking lot P701 will remain accessible at all times. In an effort to provide advanced notice to frequent travelers of the area, large electrical messaging boards will be placed along Voigt Drive and Campus Point Drive one week in advance of the work, confirming the dates and times of the closures. To minimize confusion and alleviate traffic congestion during peak travel times, nighttime work and construction sequencing have been carefully incorporated in the construction effort.
