Subject:    Office 365 Protected by Two-Step Login Starting February 27

I am pleased to announce that campus access to Microsoft Office 365 will
become protected by two-step login effective February 27, 2019. Office
365 includes OneDrive, SharePoint and the online versions of Word,
PowerPoint, Excel and other popular Microsoft applications.
Functionality includes a "Remember me for 7 days" option.

Please take note of the following scenarios to understand how this
change affects you:

- If you're among the 30,000 faculty and staff members currently
using two-step login, you'll be automatically prompted for additional
authentication.
- If you've signed up for two-step login but not enrolled your
device(s), you'll be required to enroll your device(s) before being
granted access.
- If you are not currently registered at all for two-step login,
you will bypass additional authentication.

If you are a UC San Diego Health employee and currently use campus'
instance of Office 365 as described above, you will be prompted to use
two-step login for authentication. Please note: Health Information
Services plans to roll out Office 365 to Health employees later this
year, and currently requires two-factor authentication (2FA) using the
same Duo app as campus to access the Clinical Web Portal. Stay tuned for
Health-specific information on additional efforts to secure both
employee and patient information.

two-step login becomes a way of life for securing university
information.
