UC San Diego Statement: Standing Together
Friday brought the tragic news that at least 84 people were murdered or
injured in horrendous attacks on two mosques in Christchurch, New
Zealand. Over the weekend, the world mourned as we felt the impact of
this despicable act. On Saturday evening, our Muslim Student Association
gathered among friends and allies to generously affirm their commitment
to the principles of inclusion, faith and love through an act of
community prayer. Our students demonstrated the empathy and fortitude
needed to advance peace, mutual respect and compassion in our world. We
are proud that you are members of the UC San Diego community and we
share your profound grief.

On behalf of our UC San Diego community, we extend our sympathy to those
who are suffering, express solidarity with the Muslim community, and
condemn in the strongest possible terms, acts of hate, discrimination,
racism and any form of violence directed at others because of their
identity, ethnicity, race, religion, or beliefs.
