ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF, STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO (Including UCSD Health)

SUBJECT:    Funding Opportunities to Advance the Mission and Core Values of the Latinx/Chicanx Academic Excellence Initiative

I am pleased to announce funding opportunities for innovative pilot
programs to advance the mission and core values of the newly launched
Latinx Chicanx Academic Excellence Initiative.

Today, Latinx/Chicanx students are among the fastest growing population
in California. To advance its goal of inclusive excellence, UC San Diego
has launched the Latinx/Chicanx Academic Excellence Initiative, a
campuswide program led by the Office for Equity, Diversity, and
Inclusion to unify and expand services dedicated to attracting and
supporting a diverse faculty, staff, and student community.

Grants of $5,000–$20,000 may be requested for projects that help us
achieve these goals. Funding priority will be given to applicants who
propose new, innovative projects that have the potential to create
systemic changes that increase access, create community, and advance
academic achievement for all. Applicants should specify how proposed
projects will address one or more of the initiative’s six core values:

Community and Culture/Comunidad y Cultura
Equity/Equidad
Student-Centeredness/Enfoque Estudiantil
Success/Éxito
Flourish/Florecer
Accountability/Responsabilidad

Grant applications for projects beginning in Fall Quarter 2019 are due
by June 14, 2019. A second round of innovation grants devoted to
advancing the mission of the Latinx/Chicanx Academic Excellence
Initiative will be announced in fall 2019.

Faculty, staff, and students/student organizations are encouraged to
apply.
