SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Muir and Revelle Ridge Walk Improvements

Project Description/Location: Construction for the first phase of the Ridge Walk Improvement project
will begin July 15, 2019, with an expected completion of September 20,
2019. The project work area will include portions of Ridge Walk, from
the north end of Revelle Plaza to the Main Gym.

Ridge Walk is one of the primary non-vehicular circulation features of
the UC San Diego Campus. The proposed Ridge Walk Improvements (Muir to
Revelle) project would create an enhanced pedestrian and multi-modal
experience, with an emphasis on Ridge Walk identity and wayfinding
between Muir College and Revelle College, south of the NTPLLN project.
The design for the proposed Ridge Walk Improvements (Muir to Revelle)
would attempt to balance the historic district character of both Muir
College and Revelle College, while creating a fresh new look to the
campus neighborhood.

Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Impacts:

There will be intermittent construction activity at the intersection of
Mandeville Lane and Lyman Avenue, primarily consisting of construction
vehicles entering and exiting the work area just south of Career
Services Center.

The pedestrian sidewalk known as Ridge Walk will be impacted by this
work due to demolition and reconstruction of the hardscape improvements.
Signage and detours will identify alternate pathways for pedestrians,
cyclists, and micro-mobility users.
