ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    UC Outside Activities Tracking System (UC OATS) Training at UC San Diego

As previously announced, the campus will soon be implementing the
University of California Outside Activities Tracking System (UC OATS).
As a reminder, UC OATS is a multi-campus system for faculty, deans, and
faculty administrators to submit, track, manage and annually certify
outside professional activities as designated by the University of
California, Conflict of Commitment policies (APM Sections 025, 240, 246,
and 671). System use will be mandatory for all FY 2018-2019 annual
disclosures and requests for pre-approval for Category I designated
activities.

We are pleased to announce the availability of upcoming training
opportunities intended to prepare reviewers, approvers, and faculty for
the September 3, 2019 launch:

- On August 15-16, 2019, Academic Personnel Services will host a
two-day training intensive with multiple sessions for reviewers,
approvers, and faculty. These sessions will also be available via Zoom.

- In late September, Academic Personnel Services will launch an online
training module accessible through the UC Learning Center.

- On October 21st, 24th, and 28th live webinars for faculty will be
presented via Zoom.

Please visit the UC OATS Training Resources page below for links to
enroll in an upcoming UC OATS on-campus and/or webinar training session:

The deadline for reporting annual conflict of commitment disclosures for
all faculty for FY 2018-2019 is November 1, 2019.

In addition to Conflict of Commitment (COC) requirements, faculty (and
other research personnel) are obligated to comply with UC’s Export
Control Policy and to make appropriate disclosures relative to Conflicts
of Interest (COI). Please contact the Office of the Vice Chancellor for
Research with COI and/or Export Control questions.

We look forward to your participation in the upcoming UC OATS training
events and are delighted to introduce this new system to UC San Diego.
