Annual Staff Summer Celebration

The UC San Diego Staff Association and I are pleased to invite you to
this year’s annual Staff Summer Celebration on Friday, August 16 from
11:30am-1:30pm. We hope you will join us as we Look Deeper into this
vibrant, diverse staff community, who have found a common purpose—making
the world a better place.

The celebration will feature a delicious lunch, games, giveaways,
booths, and entertainment. Lunch will be provided to staff members who
reserve their tickets online. Ticket distribution will be handled
through Eventbrite, an online ticketing system that will allow users to
print or download their own tickets to their phone. In order to ensure
that as many staff as possible may attend the picnic, employees will be
limited to one ticket per person.

Tickets will be available beginning at noon on Monday, July 29. Be sure
to reserve your tickets prior to August 9, quantities are limited. To

Off campus staff members who do not have a main campus permit can park
in the Hopkins parking structure. Parking in “S”, “V”, and “B” spaces
will be allowed with any UC San Diego parking pass from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. on Friday, August 16 only. Cart service will also be available at
the Hopkins parking structure for those who need additional assistance.

Attendees are also encouraged to take advantage of campus shuttles:
Medical Center, Mesa Nueva, North Campus, SIO, South Campus and West
Campus Connector shuttles will be running during the summer sessions.

Volunteers are needed to support the Staff Picnic. All individuals
volunteering with Volunteer50 will receive a lunch ticket and
Volunteer50 giveaway as a thank you for your time . For more

I encourage all staff to join us for this appreciation event. In order
to attend the picnic, I am approving two hours of administrative leave
with pay, and I ask supervisors to allow employees to attend, as long as
the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job
duties or patient care.

I would like to thank the UC San Diego Staff Association and this year’s
volunteer planning committee for their hard work to organize this
enjoyable annual event.
