On 07/28/2019 at 12:03 PM, the UC San Diego Police Department received a report of a fire at Argo Hall. The reporting party stated that there was a fire inside lounge room on the fourth floor. UCSD Police and San Diego Fire Department responded. When police arrived, the fire had been extinguished by a UCSD maintenance employee using a fire extinguisher and by the building fire sprinkler system. No injuries were reported. At about 5:30 PM, we were notified by fire investigators that the fire was an act of arson. There is no suspect information at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
