SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – UPDATE: Sixth College- Alternate Route for UC San Diego Non-ADA Service Carts Near new Design & Innovation Building Construction Area

Project Location/Description:

Construction of the new Design and Innovation Building in the Sixth
College Neighborhood, just south of the Structural and Materials
Engineering Building, began on July 1, 2019. Due to an increase of
traffic on pathways in the general vicinity, and in order to ensure the
safety of all travelers, all UC San Diego Service Carts, with the
exception of ADA transport vehicles, will be required to use alternate
routes for travel than Pedestrian, Bicycle and Multi-model traffic.

Effective August 14, Street Traffic, Service Cart and Pedestrian Impacts
are as follows:

All UC San Diego, Non-ADA Service Cart users are restricted from travel
on pathways connecting Matthews Lane and Lyman Lane, as well as Lyman
Lane on the east side of the construction area which will be used
exclusively for Pedestrian, Bicycle and Micromobility
(https://transportation.ucsd.edu/mobility/micro.html)
traffic in the Sixth College Neighborhood. Carts must use an alternate
travel route on Voigt Drive and Gilman Drive and allow additional time
for travel.
