In accordance with the contractual agreement between the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) and the University of California, pursuant to the terms of the Compensation article of the contract, the represented Professional Research Series salary scales have been adjusted by a general range adjustment increase of 4.5%. The represented Project Scientist Series and represented Specialist Series have been adjusted by a general range adjustment increase of 4%, in addition to equity adjustments and smoothing. The contract did not mandate off-scale increases; rather, the decision to adjust those components was left to the discretion of each campus. After consultation with the Chancellor, I am pleased to announce that eligible off-scale salary components for the Professional Research, Project Scientist, and Specialist series on our campus will be increased effective January 1, 2020, by the same percentage as the scales. The salary scales will have an effective date of January 1, 2020 for monthly paid employees and the increases should be reflected on the January 31, 2020 paycheck. For bi-weekly paid employees, the scales will have an effective date of January 12, 2020, which is the first pay period commencing after January 1, 2020, and the increases should be reflected in the February 5, 2020 paycheck. As with past general salary increases, the changes to the Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) will be managed centrally by Academic Compensation. Department and divisional deans' office staff will be expected to review resulting payroll entries and alert Academic Compensation if problems are detected. If you have questions regarding the 2019-2020 salary program, please direct them to academicpersonnel@ucsd.edu.
