SUBJECT: | CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Downwind Way/La Jolla Shores Drive Improvements, February 3 through June 5, 2020 |
Project Location/Description:
On February 3, 2020, Facilities Management will begin to replace the
west section of Downwind Way, including portions of La Jolla Shores
Drive. This project will also connect the existing sidewalk along the
north side of Downwind Way to the La Jolla Shores Dr./Downwind Way
intersection to improve pedestrian access. Construction will take
approximately 17 weeks with projected completion June 5, 2020.
During construction:
- Downwind Way will be closed between the La Jolla Shores Dr.
intersection and the entrance to Deep Sea Drilling; the Deep Sea
Drilling parking lot entrance will remain open.
- Traffic controls will be in place along La Jolla Shores Dr. to route
traffic to Deep Sea Drilling, the Birch Aquarium and upper campus
through parking lot P014 and Shellback Way.
- Existing pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project.
See the area map for access limitations: https://go.ucsd.edu/2TKh0h7
Project signage along sidewalks and streets will inform the public about
the schedule and closure information.
