We invite you to submit applications for the LEAD Fellows program administered through the Office of the Vice Chancellor – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. LEAD Fellows are campus champions who engage and lead crucial conversations around improving organizational learning and campus climate.
LEAD Fellows support and advance UC San Diego’s Strategic Plan goal of “Cultivating a diverse and inclusive university community that encourages respectful open dialogue, and challenges itself to take bold actions that will ensure learning is accessible and affordable for all.” Fellows receive extensive training to facilitate conversations, provide leadership, and to promote diversity and excellence across campus and the Health systems.
If selected for the LEAD Fellows training, the following availability is required:
• Thursday, December 17, 2020, 9am-12pm
• Thursday, January 14 and 28, 2021, 9am-11am
• Thursday, February 11 and 25, 2021, 9am-11am
• Thursday, March 11, 2021, 9am-11am
• Thursday, April 1, 15 and 29, 2021, 9am-11am
• Thursday, May 13 and 27, 2021, 9am-11am
After completing the training, LEAD Fellows are expected to 1) encourage systemic, cultural change in all spheres of influence, 2) respond to issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion both locally and in areas throughout campus and the Health system, and 3) maintain knowledge, skills and awareness of emerging equity issues. Additionally, LEAD Fellows make a minimum one-year commitment after training, with quarterly ongoing development sessions, in order to provide leadership across the institution in equity, diversity and inclusion issues.
Applications are available online and close on November 1, 2020 and accepted applicants will be notified by November 15, 2020.
To ensure success of this program, administrative leave with pay has been approved so that employees may participate in this important campus-wide initiative. Supervisors are asked to allow employees to fully participate, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.
We appreciate your nominations for UC San Diego Leaders for Equity Advancement and Diversity (LEAD) Fellows.
