As we approach the final days before Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020, we encourage all eligible members of our campus community to help select local, state, and federal leadership by exercising your fundamental right to vote.
Free expression is a cornerstone not only of the U.S. Constitution, but also of academic freedom. UC San Diego supports student expression, rights, and responsibilities to move toward positive, educational use of free speech. Our campus is a marketplace of ideas, where free expression is integral to our educational mission. Our campus is also a community of care, where all faculty, staff and students share the responsibility of mutual consideration and concern. We hope that you will be guided by UC San Diego's Principles of Community.
To support productive and courteous discourse, new programs and activities for students, staff, and faculty are available during the time up to and after the election. Details on these programs as well as information and resources to aid the campus community in thoughtful and tolerant exercise of freedom of expression can be found on UC San Diego’s Free Expression website.
Know that no matter the outcome of the 2020 elections, we are still one Triton family. We value every member of our community and actively cultivate a diverse and inclusive campus that encourages respectful open dialogue. Please join us in making a commitment to ensure that this is a safe and productive election cycle for our campus.
