Project Purpose
The new I-5 Switch Station, located in existing parking lot P510, will provide approximately 3,500 new gross square feet to house medium voltage equipment and controls. The facility will provide power to the existing Revelle Switch Station and North Campus Switch Station, and will improve power reliability to the West Campus.
Location and Duration
The medium voltage cable installation and splicing will occur on Voigt Drive, from the East Campus Switch Station to Parking Lot P510. Work will begin on November 02, 2020 and will be completed by August 30, 2021. The hours of work will be from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts
- Traffic delays on Voigt Drive may occur intermittently due to a single-lane closure around electrical manhole locations on Voigt Drive.
- Traffic will be controlled by flag persons when the lane is closed.
- The bicycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks on Voigt Drive will not be impacted by this closure.
- The Voigt Drive Bridge will continue to remain closed through late-March 2021. Pedestrian and micromobility access to P701 and the Triton Baseball Field will be maintained at all times via Voigt Drive from the east only.
