ALL STUDENTS, ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO (Including UC San Diego Health)
Native American Heritage Month Celebrations
We invite all faculty, staff and students to take part in UC San Diego’s Native American Heritage Month Celebration throughout the month of November. UC San Diego will host a series of virtual events to honor the heritage, diverse cultures, traditions, histories and the important contributions of Native people. Join us on Friday, November 6, at 12:00 p.m. for our free online Native American Heritage Month Celebration Kickoff event. The keynote speaker is Dr. Evan Adams, Chief Medical Officer of the First Nations Health Authority and a trailblazer within the healthcare system, who is also known for his role as Thomas Builds-The-Fire in the film Smoke Signals.
In recognition of this month-long celebration, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved so that employees may participate in the Native American Heritage Celebration events. Supervisors are asked to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.
Thank you to the members of the Native American Heritage Month Celebration Planning Committee for their time to coordinate these educational and celebratory events.
