Excellence in Stewardship Award Call for Nominations

The UC San Diego Foundation’s Stewardship Committee will announce the 9th Annual Excellence in Stewardship Awards in June 2021.

I invite you to recognize faculty and staff who go above and beyond to engage our donors, volunteers, and external partners. These outstanding individuals help extend the Triton family, connecting members of the philanthropic community with initiatives to support our students, research, patients, and the public good. Their efforts are crucial as we continue to turn present-day challenges into opportunities for growth and change.

Any UC San Diego employee, Foundation Board Trustee, or volunteer may nominate individuals for the Staff category or Faculty category. Please note that employees whose job description intrinsically requires the stewardship of donors are not eligible for nomination, including Advancement staff, University Communications and Public Affairs staff, vice chancellors, deans, and other senior administrators or campus leaders.

Please submit nominations for the 9th Annual Stewardship Awards to Christy Bliss via email at cmbliss@ucsd.edu no later than February 5, 2021. Awardees selected by the UC San Diego Foundation’s Stewardship Committee will be notified in March 2021 and recognized by the UC San Diego Foundation in June 2021. The 8th Annual Excellence in Stewardship awardees in 2020 were:

Dr. Ed Abeyta, Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Director of Pre-Collegiate and Career Preparations Programs at UC San Diego Extension
Dr. Robert Naviaux, Professor of Genetics in the Departments of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pathology; Founder and co-director of the Mitochondrial and Metabolic Disease Center
Dr. Stuart Sandin, Professor of Marine Biology at Scripps Institution of Oceanography
