Dear Colleagues,
We all know that 2020 has been a challenging and unprecedented year. In the face of a global crisis, UC San Diego staff across campus have demonstrated remarkable resilience and strength. In my final message to you before we depart next week for the campus closure, I want to shine a spotlight on our staff community and celebrate our many successes and triumphs from the past year.
But first, here are a few important reminders about recent updates to our Return to Learn program:
- Required Testing: All UC San Diego employees (staff, faculty, research, clinical) who report to work on campus are now required to get a COVID-19 test on a weekly basis. Tests will be provided for free and during normal working hours. Learn more about required testing »
- Remote Work: Campus staff who are working remotely should continue to do so at least through May 31, 2021, unless otherwise notified by your supervisor or vice chancellor. Learn more about Return to Learn and winter operations »
Celebrating All We’ve Accomplished Together
Over the past year:
- We quickly and creatively shifted a significant volume of events and programs to virtual platforms.
- We’ve taken on opportunities to work outside our usual roles or areas, flexing new muscles and growing professionally.
- We’ve modernized our work by reducing, and in many cases eliminating, paper processes, which is not only more efficient, but also more environmentally sustainable.
- We’ve continued to strengthen our commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence across campus.
As 2020 comes to a close, I encourage you to take the opportunity to pause and acknowledge the incredible contributions you and your colleagues have made this year. On behalf of senior campus leadership, please know how deeply grateful we are for all you do for UC San Diego. We see your hard work and we value all that you bring to our community.
During this holiday season, I’m especially grateful to be part of such a diverse and vibrant community, where we honor and recognize a wide variety of cultures and traditions. Whatever your holiday traditions are, I hope you’re able to find joy this season. And I hope you’re able to use this time away from work to rest and relax; you deserve it!
On behalf of your Human Resources organization, I send you warm wishes for a wonderful holiday season. Thank you for all you do for UC San Diego, and I look forward to continuing our work together in 2021.
Stay safe and be well,
