The Center for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion, with funding from the UC Office of the President’s Advancing Faculty Diversity Program, is awarding Faculty COVID Relief Grants of up to $2,500 to support faculty demonstrating acute needs as a result of COVID-19.
We recognize that faculty at UC San Diego have been adversely impacted by the COVID pandemic. Based on analysis of the 2020 Academics@UCSD survey, we also understand that this period of increased stress, caregiving responsibilities, and change has led to unforeseen challenges across the University’s research and teaching missions. We hope that this grant will provide needed support and express how much we care about your wellbeing and success.
Eligible faculty who demonstrate a need for assistance due to unexpected demands on their time during the pandemic, e.g., redesigning courses, remote teaching challenges, increased support for students, young children at home (who would normally be in school or daycare), or other related challenges are encouraged to apply.
Funds may be requested by active Senate and Non-Senate Faculty, not including visiting and represented titles, who are experiencing undue hardship or extenuating circumstances due to COVID-19, and who would benefit from financial support to improve their work environment and/or academic progress.
Grants will be awarded on an ongoing basis until funds are expended, or until June 15, 2021. Grant funds may be used for equipment, software, supplies, research personnel, graduate support, or any other research or teaching support needed and as permitted by University policy.
Sincerely,
