SUBJECT: | CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Lyman-Voigt-Matthews Utility Relocations |
Project Description / Location:
The Lyman-Voigt-Matthews Utility Relocation project continues with the
installation of underground utilities along Matthews Lane and Voigt
Drive. The next phase of work that impacts roadways and sidewalks is
scheduled to begin on April 20, 2020 and continue through May 1, 2020,
with work occurring between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm each day.
Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Impacts:
The utility work at the intersection of Matthews Lane and Voigt Drive
will require Matthews Lane, south of Voigt Drive, to be fully closed
during construction hours. There will also be single lane impacts on
Voigt Drive, but access will always be maintained on Voigt Drive.
Public vehicles, Price Center delivery vehicles, and emergency vehicles
will be detoured around the construction area using the existing fire
lane just north of the SME building. Pedestrians will be detoured around
the construction area using the existing sidewalk north of lot P508.
Campus shuttles are currently not in service to the Price Center stop on
Mathews due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Rideshare pick-up and drop-off
locations on Matthews Lane will be temporarily relocated to parking lot
P506. Flaggers will be present on site to safely manage the vehicular
and pedestrian traffic. All buildings and parking lots located along
Matthews Lane will remain accessible during the work.
Beyond May, there will continue to be impacts on Voigt Drive, Lyman
Lane, and Matthews Lane through Summer 2020 as the contractor continues
to install utilities in the roadway and backfill trenches. Additional
Construction Alerts will be issued for specific impacts in the near
future.
