CAMPUS NOTICE

OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE VICE CHANCELLOR

May 12, 2020

ACADEMIC SENATE FACULTY

SUBJECT:    2020 Associated Students Elections

Dear Colleagues,

We write to ask for your assistance with the promotion of student voting,
in the 2020 AS elections in your courses. The elections are scheduled to
take place next week, May 18-22, 2020. Voter turnout in AS elections has
been lower than ideal in the past few years - and the referenda
questions require a 20% voter turnout to be upheld. We would like to
encourage greater participation.

The 2020 AS Election occurs: Monday, May 18 - Friday, May 22.

In addition to the candidates for AS and College Councils, the ballot
includes an important referendum question for undergraduate and graduate
students; the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) & Student
Mental Health Fee Referendum. This is a proposed annual fee for graduate
and undergraduate students. This fee is proposed to expand and increase
the availability of CAPS and mental health services for all students,
and increase funding to improve student mental health support and
education.

Warren College students will also have the opportunity to vote on a
referendum to increase the Warren College Student Activity Fee. This fee
increase is proposed to improve and expand upon student events,
traditions and services at Warren College, subject to the approval of
the College Council.
