SUBJECT:    Revisions to the Consumption of Alcoholic and/or Malt Beverages Policy

The offices of the Vice Chancellor & Chief Financial Officer, Vice
Chancellor – Resource Management and Planning, and Vice Chancellor –
Student Affairs, are proposing a set of revisions to the Consumption of
Alcoholic and/or Malt Beverages Policy to go into effect for Summer/Fall
2020. Some of the key proposed changes include:

* Changing the name of the policy from “Consumption of Alcohol and/or
Malt Beverages” to “Alcohol Policy”.

* Eliminating distinction between “open” and “closed” events to unify
policy requirements for all events with alcohol.

* Included language incorporating delineated review process for
applications submitted by retail tenants requesting Alcohol Beverage
Control-issued licenses.

* Clarified and streamlined requirements for events with alcoholic
beverages.

* Revised and updated the procedures for submitting the Campus Events
with Alcoholic Beverages Form.

The proposed changes have been developed by the Alcohol Policy Work
Group, with input received from members’ constituencies and policy
holders. The proposed changes are now available for review and comment
by the greater campus community.
