2020 Staff Summer Virtual Celebration
The Staff Summer Celebration is one of UC San Diego’s signature staff appreciation events. Hosted by the Staff Association and the Chancellor, the annual fair recognizes and celebrates the important contributions of staff.
In observance of current public health guidelines, this year’s event will be held online over three days, August 18-20. Staff will have the opportunity to engage virtually with each other in fun activities such as:
Coffee Talk with the UC San Diego Staff Association: Tuesday, August 18
Staff will also be able to attend live sessions with staff affiliate groups and departments, view thank you videos from UC San Diego Leadership, and participate in a virtual social hour with fellow employees.
I encourage all staff to join us for this appreciation event. In order to attend this virtua event, I am approving two hours of administrative leave with pay. I encourage supervisors to be as flexible as core operational needs permit in granting employees the two hours.

I’m always proud of our employees, but this year especially so. Together, we have been through a lot the last four months. Together, we have faced a variety of obstacles and pressures to meet the needs of students, patients and our greater community. And together, we rose to meet difficult circumstances, found existing solutions when possible, and innovated in broad areas nearly every step of the way.
