Dear Research Community,
As you know, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on research institutions, including UC San Diego, have been widespread and deeply felt. As the pandemic and quarantine are likely to continue for many more months, these effects will become more severe. The dire need for financial support from the federal government cannot be overstated: without it we will face severe financial setbacks that will have ripple effects on research programs around the nation felt for years.
Congress is currently negotiating a COVID-19 supplemental bill with the White House that includes $26 billion for research. I ask that you consider calling your local legislators to voice your support in favor of this supplemental funding. It takes less than five minutes and, united, we may compel our federal officials to press forward.
