Project Location/Description:
The Mid-Coast Light Rail Transit Project is continuing with the construction of the Pepper Canyon Trolley Station. This work effort will include underground utility upgrades, surface improvements to facilitate vehicular and pedestrian movements, and bicycle storage lockers. In order to accommodate these construction efforts and maintain safe access to The Village at Pepper Canyon East (formerly Sixth College Housing) and Warren Field, the contractor will build a temporary bypass road just east of the existing Pepper Canyon Lane (formerly Lyman Lane) for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. This new configuration will be in place for approximately 12-14 months to accommodate construction activities, which are scheduled to be complete before the Trolley opens in late 2021.
Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:
Once the bypass road is complete, both vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be shifted to the new road and sidewalk on Thursday, September 10, 2020, and the existing Pepper Canyon Lane will be fenced off to accommodate construction activities for the Pepper Canyon Station Improvements. Access to The Village at Pepper Canyon East, Warren Field, and other adjacent facilities will be maintained at all times. The current Pepper Canyon Lane and Voigt Drive intersection will be relocated to the east, which will incorporate stop signs and crosswalks to allow pedestrians to cross to the north side of Voigt Drive, where the sidewalk is being maintained. Intermittent impacts to the bypass road will occur through late 2021 to allow for construction activities, but access will always be maintained.
