Reaffirming UC San Diego’s Commitment to Accessibility and Equal Employment Opportunity

UC San Diego is committed to creating a climate for work, research and learning that is empowering and inclusive of all individuals. We recognize that our strength is in our diversity and the unique and valuable contributions made by people from a wide range of backgrounds and identities.

As chancellor, I am taking this opportunity to reaffirm our institutional commitment to creating and maintaining a harassment-free environment that promotes and encourages equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and accessibility to individuals with disabilities.

Reaffirmation of UC San Diego’s Commitment to be Accessible to Individuals with Disabilities

UC San Diego is committed to making each of its programs, services and activities accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities. We all share the responsibility of safeguarding the civil rights of individuals with disabilities who seek to participate in the full range of UC San Diego’s programs, activities, and services.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and each year, UC San Diego hosts events to create awareness and recognize the value of our diverse workforce. I encourage you to participate in this month’s events, including the virtual Disability + Creatives panel discussion on Thursday, October 21 from 12 – 1 p.m.

Reaffirmation of UC San Diego’s Commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action

UC San Diego prohibits discrimination against or harassment of any person employed by or seeking employment with the University of California, consistent with the provisions of applicable state and federal regulations. In compliance with federal regulations, UC San Diego prepares and maintains written affirmative action plans. Managers and supervisors have responsibilities to ensure equal opportunity and affirmative action programs are implemented.

Learn more about our commitment to be a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.

Everyone at UC San Diego is a part of bringing these reaffirmations to life by cultivating a diverse and inclusive working and learning environment, free from harassment, and by ensuring equal access to UC San Diego educational programs and employment opportunities.
