ALL STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND CAMPUS STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO
Updates to Masking Policy and Daily Symptoms Screening
Masking Policy Updates Effective immediately, UC San Diego has updated campus guidelines for face coverings to allow fully vaccinated employees to remove masks while actively eating or drinking at the employee’s workstation or while actively eating or drinking in an employee break room. Unvaccinated students and employees must continue to eat either alone in a closed office or closed room, or physically distanced from others outdoors or at a campus eatery.
Also effective immediately, performers may remove face masks while rehearsing or performing for a Department of Theatre and Dance performance, provided such performers are in full compliance with the Theatre and Dance Maskless Rehearsal and Performance Protocol.
Daily Symptoms Screening Update The symptom screening tool has been updated to simplify notifications to those who are required to complete a daily self-screening for COVID-19. The new process integrates symptoms, exposure, vaccination status and asymptomatic screening requirements.
Beginning Thursday, October 21, the colored thumb image and messaging received upon completing daily symptom screening will more clearly state clearance to come to campus for work and class as well as additional safety requirements if necessary.
All students and employees must update their self-screening enrollment and confirm their contact information and supervisor before completing their daily symptom screening beginning Thursday, October 21.
The student daily symptom screener will be unavailable tonight, October 20, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., and the employee daily symptom screener will be unavailable tonight, October 20, from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. to accommodate system upgrades.
As a reminder, UC San Diego encourages employees working remotely to complete a daily self-screening for COVID-19. Those living in campus-operated housing and those coming to a UC San Diego location for any reason are required to complete the daily symptom self-screening and follow all safety requirements.
