Tritons Together: Grief Support Resources Available
Dear Tritons,
This past weekend, a student member of our Triton community tragically passed away after falling from a building on campus. I am writing to bring to your attention resources that are currently available to support each of you and our students in our collective grief.
Resources for Faculty and Staff The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) offers confidential counseling and mental health support for campus employees. FSAP has many dedicated appointments this week to support individuals affected by this tragedy. Learn more at https://blink.ucsd.edu/sponsor/hr/divisions-units/fsap.html and 858-534-5523.
Resources for Students Students may reach out directly to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). CAPS provides free, confidential, counseling and crisis services for registered UC San Diego students, and can be reached at 858-534-3755. Additional information is available at https://caps.ucsd.edu/.
Over the weekend, well-being resources and services were made available to students. Students may continue to seek support at Galbraith Hall 190 and Muir College HSS 2126 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. throughout the week. Students who wish to come together with CAPS in a community support session may email vcsa@ucsd.edu for more information.
Deans of Student Affairs may help to arrange temporary leaves of absence, reach out to professors, and connect students with campus and community resources. Contact information for the Undergraduate College and Graduate Division Deans of Student Affairs is available at the following link: https://vcsa.ucsd.edu/news/covid-19/#Prioritizing-Mental-Wellness.
Please take care, and seek out support resources if needed.
Sincerely,
Alysson M. Satterlund Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
