Open Enrollment Checklist

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review benefit offerings at UC San Diego, determine which plans will be most beneficial for you and your family for 2022, and make the appropriate changes. If you're happy with your current benefit selection and do not plan to make changes or re-enroll for a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you should still review your Benefits Summary page on UCPath Online to ensure accuracy.

The deadline to make your Open Enrollment elections in UCPath is next week on Friday, November 19 at 5 p.m.  All enrollment changes will take effect on January 1, 2022.

As you consider your benefit options during Open Enrollment, have you:
  • Reviewed the Open Enrollment website on UCnet?
  • UCnet is your best resource for information and tools to help you decide which plan is best for you. You will also find details about UC Care, one of the Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) offered by the UC with a broad network of providers, and UC Blue & Gold, the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) option with a custom network of providers created exclusively for the University of California.
  • Attended an Open Enrollment webinar, hosted by the UCPath Center, or Open Enrollment Office Hours, hosted by members of the UC San Diego benefits teams?
  • Visited UCPath to review and/or change your benefit selections? With UCPath, Open Enrollment changes can be submitted once per day. You will receive a submission statement after each submission.
  • Considered UC San Diego Health or our affiliated network, including Perlman Clinic, One Medical and San Diego Sports Medicine, as your Primary Care Provider?
  • Explored UC’s Supplemental Health Plan programs?
  • Used one of the FSA tax-savings calculators to determine 2022 Health FSA and/or Dependent Care FSA contributions? Re-enrollment is not automatic for these plans. If you would like to enroll for one of these plans for 2022, you will need to make your new annual election during Open Enrollment.
  • Considered enrolling in ARAG Legal Insurance?
  • Compared your potential savings on auto and home insurance? UC San Diego faculty and staff have special access to Farmers Insurance Choice, a tool to compare discounted auto insurance quotes for savings.
You can find moreinformation about Open Enrollment on UCnet and on Blink.
