UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley Opening and MTS / Triton Transit Route Modifications
The opening of the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley extension on November 21, 2021 presents a new option for your commute and triggers a number of changes to the campus and regional transit network that current transit riders should be aware of.
Incorporate the Trolley into Your Commute Students can ride the trolley fare-free with U-Pass and Faculty and Staff can also try trolley commuting for free with the FaSt pass free trial program. Faculty and Staff should enroll by November 14 to ensure that their transit pass is active from the first day of trolley service, November 21.
To learn more about incorporating the trolley into your commute, we encourage you to join SANDAG iCommute for a free webinar that will address the trolley route, connections, and station amenities like bike lockers.

Be Informed About Bus Service Changes MTS is updating schedules for multiple routes to better align bus service with the UC San Diego Blue Line schedule. You can view the full list of service changes on the MTS website.
Two changes to MTS service most significantly impact UC San Diego commuters. The MTS SuperLoop 201/201 and 204 route and schedule include significant updates. Additionally, MTS Route 150 will discontinued to avoid duplication of service with the trolley.
Earn Incentives with Triton Commuter Club As you consider your new commute options, remember that you can earn incentives, receive emergency ride home support and enter to win prizes when you log your low-impact trips and telework or remote learning days through Triton Commuter Club.
Connect to San Diego International Airport Starting November 21, travelers will be able to take the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley to Old Town Transit Center and transfer to a free electric shuttle to San Diego International Airport. More information on this new service will be posted on the SAN.org public transportation page later this week.
