CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Scholars Drive South Realignment at Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood

Project Purpose
Construction of the Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood began on January 4, 2021 and will continue through fall 2023. This multi-use project will provide approximately 2,000 new beds for undergraduate students, residential life and administrative offices, general assignment classrooms, a meeting center, restaurants and retail for an approximate total of 900,000 gross square feet (GSF). The proposed project will also include improvements to Ridge Walk (Galbraith to Revelle College Dr.) and parking for approximately 1,200 cars (325 net new spaces).

Location, Duration and Impacts

Scholars Dr. South will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from Keeling apartments to the intersection of Revelle College Dr. starting on December 20, 2021 and reopening spring quarter 2023.
During the temporary closure, motor vehicles will be detoured onto North Torrey Pines Rd. from La Jolla Shores Dr. and Revelle College Dr.
A bike/micromobility corridor will be maintained along Scholars Dr. South with additional alternate bike and pedestrian routes around the east side of the project site near Galbraith Hall.
There will be periodic construction impacts along Revelle College Dr. through fall 2023.

Please observe all temporary traffic controls and crewmember instructions. Please reduce speeds and allow extra space when traveling adjacent to construction activity. See a map of the affected area.
