Candidates must already hold a faculty appointment at UC San Diego with either a tenured Full or Associate Professor or a Full or Associate Teaching Professor with Security of Employment; applicants with prior and demonstrable leadership experience would be preferred.
The responsibilities of this position include consulting with and providing advice to the Dean on the development and management of initiatives and programs; assisting in the program review process, including discussing and advising on report recommendations, guiding departments and programs through their assessment cycles, and aiding in the assessment of the division’s three units: Academic Integrity, Office for Students with Disabilities, and Summer Session; overseeing WSCUC substantive change screenings, working with Educational Innovation and the Teaching + Learning Commons in WSCUC substantive change proposals; and in the absence of the Dean, serving as Acting Dean, and, as needed, serving as the Dean’s representative on committees and workgroups at the campus, systemwide, and national level.
