Updates from your CHRO
Dear Colleagues,
Black History Month is an opportunity every year to shine a spotlight on the achievements and contributions of Black people in U.S. history. This year’s theme is “The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity”.
In a recent article in This Week @ UC San Diego, Black-identifying members of the Triton community shared reflections and personal stories about their communities, family traditions and the people who inspire them. It was moving to get a glimpse into the rich and vibrant lived experiences of our Black colleagues and students.
In light of our ongoing conversations about race and anti-racism over the past year, it feels especially important this year to use this month as a time to learn, grow and come together in community. If you’re looking for ways to get involved and join the Black History Month celebration, check out the calendar of events.
